"Η νοσταλγός" by Alexandros Papadiamantes is a short story written in 1894. Lialió, married to a much older man named Monachákis, yearns to return to her birthplace island. She persuades Mathiós, a young shepherd secretly in love with her, to help her escape. On a moonlit night, they sail across the sea in a boat using her dress as a sail. While Mathiós hopes to keep Lialió forever, she longs only for her homeland. Meanwhile, her anxious husband follows, determined to bring her back.
