El Marxant de Venecia
"El Marxant de Venecia" by William Shakespeare is a play written between 1596 and 1598. When Antonio, a Venetian merchant, defaults on a loan provided by the Jewish moneylender Shylock, he faces fatal consequences: a pound of his own flesh. Though classified as a comedy, the play is best remembered for its dramatic tension and Shylock's famous demand. It features celebrated speeches on humanity and mercy, while sparking enduring debate about prejudice and justice.
