by Unknown
"Kanteletar: Suomen kansan wanhoja lauluja ja wirsiä" by Elias Lönnrot is a collection of Finnish folk poetry published in 1840. Considered a sister work to the national epic Kalevala, it gathers ancient songs and hymns sung by Finnish people, particularly from Karelia. The collection contains over 650 lyrical poems and ballads organized into three books, covering themes of daily life, love, celebration, and legend. Named after the "maiden of the kantele," this treasure of oral tradition has inspired generations of Finnish composers, artists, and musicians.
